«El viaje a ninguna parte» is the novel by Fernando Fernán Gómez, published by Ediciones Cátedra in paperback (320 pages, in Spanish).
The novel draws on Fernando Fernán Gómez's personal and collective memory to tell the lives of comedians in rural Spain in the early 1950s, at the height of the decline of traveling theatre. Through characters and anecdotes from the profession, the author reflects on what it meant to be an actor at that time, in a narrative that goes beyond costumbrismo.
It belongs to the Letras Hispánicas collection (no. 530); this is the second edition, edited by Juan A. Ríos Carratalá.
For readers of Spanish fiction who want to approach the literary side of Fernando Fernán Gómez.

Fernando Fernández Gómez, better known as Fernando Fernán Gómez, was a Spanish actor, screenwriter, film director, theater director, novelist, and playwright. Prolific in all these fields, he was elected member of the Royal Spanish Academy in 1998. He was born in Lima, Peru while his mother, Spanish actress Carola Fernán-Gómez, was making a tour in Latin America. He would later use her surname for his stage name when he moved to Spain in 1924.
