«Elmer» is the children's story by David McKee and Ramon Masnou Ferrer, published by Vicens Vives in paperback (40 pages, in Spanish).
Elmer is a patchwork elephant of many colors, different from the others, which are gray. Tired of being laughed at, he tries to paint himself gray to blend in, but soon realizes that his friends love him precisely for being different. A story about diversity and self-esteem, with activity suggestions at the end of the book.
Part of the Piñata collection from Vicens Vives, supplementary material for Primary Education, and of the Elmer story series. Translation by Adolfo Muñoz García from the original English.
Aimed at primary school children, it is useful in the classroom and at home for discussing diversity and self-esteem.
David John McKee, was a British writer and illustrator, chiefly of children's books and animations.
