«English Castles» is Ann Lockhart's guide to castles, published by Pitkin in paperback (32 pages, in English).
The guide covers 400 years of history of the castles and fortresses of England and Wales: from the Norman wooden towers of the 11th century to the stone fortresses and coastal forts of Henry VIII. It documents more than 1,500 castles, some still inhabited and others in ruins, and explains how they were built and used.
Originally published in April 1995, it is part of the Pitkin Guides series, a collection of British historical guides.
For fans of medieval history and travelers interested in English heritage.
