«Espanya en guerra» is the dark-humor adventure novel by Albert Pla i Álvarez, published by Amsterdam in paperback (225 pages, in Catalan).
An elite American battalion is tasked with quelling the Catalan rebellion and establishing democracy in Spain. The operation, presented as humanitarian, turns into hell when the resistance kidnaps a bottle of Coca-Cola, symbol of the American people, and drags the battalion into the darkest corners of the soldier's soul.
Translation into Catalan by Martí Sales i Sariola. Published in 2020.
For readers of contemporary fiction and political satire with an acid look at post-procés Catalonia and post-democratic Spain.
