«Espérame» is the fiction novel by Xosé A. Perozo, published by Edicións Xerais in paperback (304 pages, in Galician).
Lola, owner of the Santiago nightclub Toulouse Lautrec, evokes each night her life as a cabaret performer: from her native village to the house of Colonel Raúl in Vigo and her link with General Aniano. With Reme and Rufino at her side, the plot portrays the decline of rural Galicia and love as a fallacy that only benefits men, under Francoism.
The work was published on March 17, 2006 within the Narrativa collection of Edicións Xerais.
A proposal for readers of literary fiction with an interest in Galician narrative and period portraits of Francoism.
