«Fábulas» is an anthology of fables by Tomás de Iriarte and Félix María de Samaniego, published by Ediciones El País in paperback (206 pages, in Spanish).
Anthology of verse fables by two 18th-century Spanish authors. Samaniego, heir to the tradition of Aesop and La Fontaine, uses animals as protagonists to reflect with humor and irony human vices and customs; Iriarte's compositions share that critical and witty tone. Each tale ends with a moral.
Volume number 19 of El País's Clásicos Españoles collection, 2005 edition in Madrid. Brings together a selection of fables by Iriarte and Samaniego.
For readers who want to approach the Spanish classics and for those who appreciate the fable as a moral and ironic genre.
