«Gaeli i l'home déu» is the novel by Pere Calders, published by Edicions 62 in paperback (176 pages, in Catalan).
Joan Gaeli is a man of ideas convinced that religious feeling can be channeled as a driving force of progress, whether from the municipality or the state. His encounter with a Russian capable of performing miracles unleashes a series of incredible adventures in revolutionary Catalonia, narrated with an ironic tone that does not renounce social criticism.
Winner of the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona and the Premi Joan Crexells for narrative. Originally written in 1938 and published in 1986, it is part of the El Balancí collection (no. 180).
For readers interested in Catalan narrative, uchronia and satire with a critical tone.
