«Guillem» is the documentary novel by Núria Cadenes i Alabèrnia, published by Amsterdam in paperback (184 pages, in Catalan).
The novel reconstructs the murder of Guillem Agulló i Salvador, an 18-year-old swimmer, antifascist, antiracist and pro-independence activist, in Montanejos in 1993. Drawing on the case file, the press and family memories, it documents the impunity of the crime, the harassment of those close to him and the media manipulation that portrayed the victim as the perpetrator.
Winner of the Premi Lletra d'Or (2021) and the Premi a la Millor Novel·la en català València Negra (2020).
Will appeal to readers of documentary fiction, true crime and recent history with a political and social background.
