«Historia de los griegos» is the historical essay by Indro Montanelli, published by Círculo de Lectores, S.A. in paperback (318 pages, in Spanish).
Montanelli traces the history of ancient Greece through the men who shaped it, with figures such as Homer and Plato, and rather than a political chronicle offers portraits, anecdotes and human passions. The author's accessible, direct and ironic style includes provocative comparisons with the present and seeks to teach while delighting.
The work is a translation from the Italian Storia dei greci; the original was first published in 1959 and this Spanish version appeared in 1996.
For readers interested in ancient history and an accessible approach to classical Greece.
Indro Alessandro Raffaello Schizogene Montanelli was an Italian journalist, historian, and writer.
