Històries de la mà esquerra is a collection of short stories that revolve around the author's childhood and youth memories, a way of living in a specific area of Catalonia: the Catalan strip of Aragon. There are also scattered, urban stories, unrelated to the rural theme. Moncada thus portrays the generations that preceded him, the miners, those who went down the Ebro, the gatherings of the cafes, the burials... A mixture between reality and fiction, between myths and superstitions. All this with a colloquial language, very fresh, full of idioms and dialectalisms, in an attempt to preserve for literature the memory of the past. Together with El Cafè de la Granota, it has been said that both sets of stories are the previous drafts to the splendid deployment of Camí de sirga.

Jesús Moncada i Estruga was a narrator and translator. His work is a re-creation, somewhere between realism and fantasy, of the mythical past of the old town of Mequinenza -now submerged beneath the waters of the river Ebro-.
