It gathers 53 short chapters combining miraculous tales and serene meditations on the life of Saint Francis of Assisi: his devotion, his vow of poverty and his love of nature, with episodes such as the sermon to the birds or the encounter with the wolf. It includes the considerations on the stigmata and the life of Brother Juniper.
Volume 220 of BUR Classici, published in 1979, with introduction and commentary by Cesare Segre and preface to the text and notes by Luigina Morini.
A work for those interested in Franciscan spirituality, Catholicism and medieval religious literature.
