«Icaria, Icaria» is the novel by Xavier Benguerel, published by Planeta in paperback (293 pages, in Spanish).
The plot follows the dream of founding a utopian city, a New Jerusalem inspired by the Icarian communism of Étienne Cabet. That adventure intertwines with anarcho-syndicalist Barcelona and the attack on the royal family in the Garraf tunnel, and brings to life imaginary characters swept along by their illusions, hopes and defeats.
Winner of the Premio Planeta in 1974, the edition belongs to the Colección Premio Planeta.
For those seeking novels with historical and social background, with utopias, labor movements and early 20th-century Barcelona.
