«India» is V. S. Naipaul's essay on contemporary India, published by Debate Editorial in hardcover (584 pages, in Spanish).
Naipaul avoids the exotic portrait and describes a complex Indian society, marked at once by modern progress and ancient customs. He addresses the clash between Hindus and Muslims, the new role of women, the persistence of rituals, the rise of cinema, literary renewal, family changes and the endurance of the caste system.
Third volume of the India trilogy; the work was originally published as India: A Million Mutinies Now (1990). This Spanish edition appeared at Debate in 2001.
Work for those interested in India, non-fiction and travel, and for those following the career of V. S. Naipaul, Nobel Prize in Literature.

Sir Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul was a Trinidad and Tobago-born British writer renowned for his works of fiction and nonfiction in English. He is known for his comic early novels set in Trinidad, his bleaker novels of alienation in the wider world, and his vigilant chronicles of life and travels. He wrote in prose that was widely admired, but his views sometimes aroused controversy. He published more than thirty books over fifty years.
