«Inquisitio» is the historical novel by Alfred Bosch, published by Editorial Planeta in hardcover (536 pages, in Spanish).
Set in nineteenth-century Valencia, the novel recreates the last Inquisition trial against Cayetano Ripoll, a poor, believing schoolmaster chosen by the ultra-Catholics. Meanwhile, the secret society El Ángel Exterminador awaits the year of the Prophecy. Bosch fictionalizes the real historical episode of the last person condemned by the Holy Office.
