«Into The Fire» is the historical intrigue novel by Manda Scott, published by Penguin Random House in paperback (576 pages, in English).
In 2014, in Orleans, the charred corpse of a man appears in a burned-out hotel with no identification. Captain Inés Picaut investigates with a single clue: the name of Joan of Arc, dead five centuries earlier. The plot alternates with 1429, when spy Tomas Rustbeard tries to win Joan's trust. Past and present converge.
First installment of the Capitaine Inés Picaut series. It was nominated for the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize in its published novel category in 2016.
Recommended for readers of historical thrillers and mysteries with a dual plotline between the present and the Hundred Years' War.
