«Iqbal» is the children's and young adult novel by Francesco D'Adamo, published by Oxford University Press in paperback (136 pages, in English).
It tells the story of Iqbal Masih, a child enslaved in a carpet factory, and how his arrival gives hope to Fátima, María and the other minors: it shows them that their debt is unpayable and that they can dream of a free future. Based on real events, it addresses child labor and human rights.
It is part of the Rollercoasters series from Oxford University Press, in the Iqbal Reader edition, published in 2009.
Recommended for young readers and for use in the secondary school classroom, with opportunities for debate and research.
