«Jamais sans ma fille» is the autobiographical account by Betty Mahmoody and William Hoffer, published by Editions Fixot in paperback (402 pages, in French).
In August 1984, Betty Mahmoody arrives in Iran with her Iranian husband and four-year-old daughter for a two-week vacation, but the trip turns into forced confinement. The account narrates her resistance to adapting to life under the Islamic Republic and her struggle to escape and return to the United States without leaving her daughter behind.
Original title: «Not Without My Daughter», of which this book is the first volume. Translated from the English by Marie-Thérèse Cuny.
For readers of true stories and memoirs, especially those seeking stories about Iran and a mother's strength to protect her daughter.

Betty Mahmoody is an American author and public speaker. In 1984, during a visit to Iran with her husband and daughter, he refused to let them return to the United States, holding them captive in Iran and subjecting them to constant abuse until she escaped with her daughter to Turkey in 1986. After she and her daughter returned to the US and after her divorce to Moody, she garnered media attention in 1987 when she published Not Without My Daughter, a memoir recounting her captivity in Iran. MGM-Pathé Communications adapted her memoir into a film in 1991.
