«Jan Plata. La crida dels pirates» is the children's and young adult novel by Josep Lluís Badal, published by La Galera in hardcover (184 pages, in Catalan).
Jan Plata is a dreamy boy who lives with his mother in a little house by the beach and devours books on navigation. He knows nothing about his father and no one answers his questions. At home there is a golden bell he is forbidden to touch, but one day, frustrated, he breaks the rule and his life changes forever. Then begins a magical and unexpected adventure, an initiatory journey in which he will meet many creatures and characters and, above all, discover the value of friendship and camaraderie.
Winner of the 50th Josep M. Folch i Torres Prize. First title in the Jan Plata series.
Recommended for children's and young adult readers aged 8 and up.
