«Janus le chat des bois» is the children's book by Anne-Marie Chapouton, published by Nathan in paperback (94 pages, in French).
Janus, a forest cat, tries to be accepted by the wild animals, but they reject him. Cloche, a squirrel, defies that decision and offers him her friendship. Through the actions and reflections of this small society, the author denounces discrimination, anger, revenge and jealousy, and defends respect, understanding and friendship in simple language.
Published in 1979, it belongs to Nathan's Arc-en-Poche collection.
Aimed at children aged 8 to 9, with a story that invites reflection on acceptance and inclusion.
French translator and children's writer (1939–2000)
