«Jinojito el lila» is the novel by Jaime Campmany, published in 1998 by Espasa in paperback (268 pages, in Spanish).
The narrative is set in a school and follows a group of schoolchildren from their own perspective, showing childhood life in its chiaroscuro: purity, naivety and tenderness coexist with the cruelty and selfishness typical of the age. Through these experiences, the work also portrays Spanish society of the twentieth century.
Readers who enjoy nostalgic and ironic narratives about childhood and school life will find here an enjoyable read.
