«Josafat» is the Catalan modernist novel by Prudenci Bertrana, published by Educaula in paperback (128 pages, in Catalan).
The novel follows Josafat, bell-ringer of Girona Cathedral, whose religious fanaticism and repressed desire clash when he meets Fineta. The relationship, marked by guilt and sacrilege, drags him toward a tragic end. It is a key work of Catalan modernism that criticizes bourgeois morality and religious hypocrisy of the era.
Work originally published in 1907. This edition includes an introductory study, commentary on a fragment, and work proposals by Toni Sala.
Recommended for readers aged 14 and over and for students of Catalan literature.
