«Kamtschatka» is the novel by Marcelo Figueras, published by dtv Verlagsgesellschaft in paperback (317 pages, in German).
Narrated from a child's perspective, the novel follows a family that must go into hiding after the 1976 military coup in Argentina: for the parents it is a struggle to survive; for the children, an adventure of codes and hiding places. The strategy game Kamtschatka, where a small country resists enemies, mirrors the family's situation.
