«La casa de los pájaros» is the novel by Eva Meijer, published by Ático de los Libros in paperback (256 pages, in Spanish).
Len Howard, a forty-year-old violinist, leaves her life in London and settles in a cottage in Sussex to devote herself to birds. With the windows open, she lives alongside great tits, robins and sparrows; her musical ear allows her to distinguish their songs. The novel imagines her real story and her pioneering work in the study of animal behavior.
Published in 2016 in Dutch as «Het vogelhuis», translated by Isabel Clara Lorda. It is Eva Meijer's first novel and was nominated for the BNG and Libris prizes in the Netherlands.
Aimed at readers aged 16 and over interested in novels about nature, birds and the lives of women who break with the established order.
