«La Chambre d'écho» is the novel by Régine Detambel, published by Seuil in paperback in 2003 (144 pages, in French).
Natacha has only ever known Ferenc. When he falls seriously ill and isolates himself to avoid showing himself to her, distance does not extinguish her desire: the couple reinvents their love through the telephone, turned into their «echo chamber». The work explores carnal passion, innocence and cruelty in an unconventional relationship.
For readers with a command of French seeking a short novel about desire, illness and communication in a couple.
