«La colla dels bandolers» is the historical fiction youth novel by Oriol Vergés i Mundó, published by Publicacions de l'Abadia de Montserrat in paperback (142 pages, in Catalan).
Set in Catalonia at the beginning of the Early Modern period, the novel starts from the country's division between the factions of the nyerros and the cadells. To that struggle is added banditry, fueled by poverty and social disorganization, and the abundance of counterfeiters. In this setting, the book follows the adventures of a band of outlaws.
It belongs to the collection Les Arrels, l'aventura i la història, of which it is volume 9, with illustrations by Pere Virgili.
Recommended for young readers interested in the history of Catalonia and in adventure narrative with a historical background.
