«La concesión del teléfono» is Andrea Camilleri's satirical novel, published by Destino in paperback (280 pages, in Spanish).
In Sicily between the 19th and 20th centuries, a citizen tries to get a private telephone line based on an 1892 ministerial decree. Camilleri turns paperwork into a bureaucratic labyrinth, and portrays with irony the corruption and inefficiency of Italian administration, with extravagant characters and amusing entanglements.

For readers of Italian and historical fiction who enjoy social satire and humor about bureaucracy.
