«La coscienza di Zeno» is the novel by Italo Svevo published by Mondadori in paperback (416 pages, in Italian).
The novel takes the form of the memoirs that Zeno Cosini writes on the advice of his psychoanalyst. In them he reviews his struggle to give up smoking, the death of his father, a loveless marriage, an affair and a disastrous business, with irony and an interior monologue that turns his tormented consciousness into the true subject of the work.
The novel, originally published in 1923, opens the «Zeno» series. This 2001 edition belongs to the Oscar classici moderni collection (no. 9).
For readers interested in twentieth-century Italian literature and novels of psychological analysis.
