«La fuente de la edad» is the contemporary fiction novel by Luis Mateo Díez, published by Alfaguara in hardcover (384 pages, in Spanish).
In a provincial city in the 1950s, a brotherhood more given to drinking and the esoteric than to penitence sets out one night in search of a fountain of virtuous waters from which a canon was said to have drunk. The adventure opens up an escape route for them and sets real life against imaginary life, the absurd and innocent against the established order.
With this work, Luis Mateo Díez won the Premio de la Crítica and the Premio Nacional de Literatura in 1987; the novel was originally published in 1986.
For readers of contemporary fiction and Spanish narrative, as well as for those seeking an award-winning novel.
