«La guerrière oubliée» is the science fiction and fantasy novel by Mary Gentle, published by Gallimard Education in paperback (576 pages, in French).
In 1476, in an alternative-history Europe, Carthaginian troops and their golems ravage the south of the continent and nothing seems able to stop them. Cendres, a nineteen-year-old mercenary captain, stands in their way: a warrior with a scarred face whom history forgot, guided by the voice of a saint.
First volume of the series Le Livre de Cendres, known in English as The Book of Ash. French translation by Patrick Marcel; the original work, A Secret History, won the Sidewise Award and was a finalist for the Arthur C. Clarke Award.
It is aimed at readers of historical fantasy and alternate history; it is the first volume of Le Livre de Cendres.
