«La meitat de l'ànima» is the novel by Carme Riera published by Proa in 2004, in hardcover, with 240 pages and text in Catalan.
A writer receives from a stranger, on Sant Jordi's Day, a bundle of letters that question her origins. The reading disturbs her and leads her to investigate her family past: the republican exile in France, espionage and double agents. The search for her mother's identity reveals a hidden story of the resistance.
It won the Premi Sant Jordi 2003 and the Premi de Narrativa Maria Àngels Anglada 2005. Number 412 of the A Tot Vent-Tela collection from Proa.
For readers of contemporary fiction in Catalan interested in historical memory, identity and family intrigue.
