«La orilla oscura» is the novel by José María Merino, published by Alfaguara in paperback (347 pages, in Spanish).
A novel about memory and dream: the protagonist recalls old childhood tales while his American experience blends with a river journey through the jungle, where the real and the imaginary become confused. The plot explores identity and the past until the consciousness of dreaming becomes a journey toward the origin.
It belongs to the Alfaguara Bolsillo collection, number 6. The work won the Premio de la Crítica de Narrativa Castellana.
For readers of Spanish-language fiction who appreciate dreamlike atmospheres and the play between reality and fiction.
