«La rata de Navidad» is the children's and young adult novel by Avi, published by Ediciones SM in paperback (160 pages, in Spanish).
Six days before Christmas, Eric, who is home alone during the holidays, receives the exterminator who is going to disinfect the building. After he leaves, the boy goes down to the basement and finds a rat; that discovery triggers a story about friendship, empathy, and city life that recovers the Christmas spirit.
It belongs to the El Barco de Vapor Naranja collection, number 140, and its original title is The Christmas Rat.
Recommended for readers aged 9 to 12, especially for those looking for Christmas stories with animals and values such as friendship.
