«La reine de la nuit» is the novel by Marc Behm, published by Rivages in paperback (242 pages, in French).
The novel recounts the descent of a young German woman who, almost without meaning to, is swept up by the machinery of Nazism and ends up integrated into the SA and the SS. With pitch-black humor and a picaresque tone, Behm portrays major figures of the Reich and alternates satire with passages of extreme harshness, verging on surrealism.
The edition belongs to the Rivages/Noir collection and was released in France in June 1992; the novel was originally published in 1977 under the title «Queen of the Night».
For readers of crime and historical fiction with a tolerance for black humor and harsh scenes.

Marc Behm was an American novelist, actor, and screenwriter, who lived as an expatriate in France. Behm co-wrote the screenplay for the Beatles' Help! (1965) and conceived the story for the film Charade (1963). His best and most well-known literary work is the crime novel Eye of the Beholder (1980), which was adapted twice for the screen, in 1983 and in 1999.
