«La simetría de los deseos» is the novel by Eshkol Nevo, published by Duomo Ediciones in paperback (368 pages, in Spanish).
Four friends gathered in front of the television, still under thirty, write down three wishes and agree to reread them four years later; one writes marrying Yaara and having a daughter, and the others wish for justice, passion, success or love. The passage of time dissolves some dreams and leaves friendship as a refuge.
The Spanish edition is a translation from the Hebrew by Eulàlia Sariola Mayol. The original title, «משאלה אחת ימינה», was published in 2007. It belongs to the Nefelibata collection.
For readers of contemporary fiction interested in stories about friendship, wishes and the passage of time.
