«La tentación totalitaria» is the political essay by Jean-François Revel, published by Plaza & Janés in hardcover (259 pages, in Spanish).
Revel examines the political currents that lead to nationalist and authoritarian socialisms linked to economies of scarcity. He argues that the main obstacle to socialism is not capitalism but communism, and questions the supposed difference between Stalinism and communism and the alleged evolution of the latter toward tolerance.
Published in 1976, translated by Ana M.ª de la Fuente and J. Ferrer Aleu. It falls within the categories of philosophy and history.
A work of political philosophy aimed at readers interested in the history of ideologies.
