The action begins on a stormy, sweltering night when Marie and the narrator experience an intense love affair that is, at the same time, separate. The novel focuses on the portrait of Marie, a haute couture designer, and on the couple's relationship, with a meditation on distance, reality and imagination.
It is the third installment of the «Marie Madeleine Marguerite de Montalte» series, originally published in 2009 and winner of the Prix Décembre; this edition includes «L'auteur, le narrateur et le pur-sang».
