«Le roi qui valait 4,50» is the illustrated children's picture book by André Bouchard, published by Circonflexe in paperback (48 pages, in French).
With irony, the story suggests that anyone can become king: just enter a supermarket and buy a crown for 4.50 euros. The protagonist, a caricatured character with a crown, red cape and umbrella, appears among pigeons while the narrative invites reflection on the value of things and the absurdity of buying a royal title.
André Bouchard also provides the illustrations. The book was published on May 21, 2013 and belongs to the children's and young adult category.
Recommended for children aged 3 to 5, especially those who enjoy humorous picture books with absurd situations.
