«Le sergent Salinger» is the novel by Jerome Charyn, published by Rivages in paperback (364 pages, in French).
Jerome Charyn fictionalizes J.D. Salinger's war years, moving away from the myth of the reclusive writer. The narrative follows Salinger between 1944 and 1945, from the Normandy landings to the concentration camps, and shows how those experiences may have influenced the creation of «El guardián entre el centeno».
Translation from English (US) by Isabelle D. Philippe; this French edition was published in 2023.
For fans of J.D. Salinger and for those seeking a fictionalized approach to World War II.
