«L'écrivain de la famille» is the novel by Grégoire Delacourt, published by Le Livre de Poche in paperback (240 pages, in French).
At age seven, Édouard writes his first poem, and that small achievement makes him, in his family's eyes, «the writer of the family». The novel recounts Édouard's life under that imposed label: the difficulty of escaping the dreams others project onto him and of finding his own identity, in a simple, familial, and moving story.
The work was originally published in 2011; this Le Livre de Poche edition dates from 2012.
For readers of contemporary fiction and French literature interested in stories about identity and family expectations.
