«Les Cathares» is the historical essay on Catharism from the In Situ Thèmes collection, published by MSM in paperback (320 pages, in French).
A survey of medieval heresies, especially Catharism: its dualist doctrine, its establishment in twelfth-century Occitania, and the conflict with the Church. From the condemnation of heretics and the Albigensian Crusade called by Innocent III to the annexation of Languedoc to France in 1271 and the extinction of the heresy in 1321.
The volume offers abundant iconography and pays attention to the sites and monuments that preserve the memory of this episode.
For readers interested in medieval history, religious heresies, and the heritage of Occitania.
