«Les entretiens de Confucius» is the classic of Chinese thought by Confucius, published by Gallimard in paperback (139 pages, in French).
Sayings and anecdotes attributed to Confucius, compiled around 400 BC, form this central work of Chinese culture. Its influence still extends over a large part of humanity. Confucius, with good humor and generosity, combines the firmness of moral principles with human weaknesses, and proposes an art of living that is still a model for the world today.
Translated from the Chinese with introduction and notes by Pierre Ryckmans. 2004 edition in the Folio Sagesses collection from Gallimard.
Recommended for readers who want to approach the thought of Confucius in a French pocket edition.

Confucius, born Kong Qiu, was a Chinese philosopher of the Spring and Autumn period who is traditionally considered the paragon of Chinese sages. Much of the shared cultural heritage of the Sinosphere originates in the philosophy and teachings of Confucius. His philosophical teachings, called Confucianism, emphasized personal and governmental morality, harmonious social relationships, righteousness, kindness, sincerity, and a ruler's responsibilities to lead by virtue.
