«L'Éternité reçue: Si vous avez peur de la mort» is the philosophical essay by Martin Steffens, published by Desclée de Brouwer in paperback.
The essay starts from an assertion: we are not made to die, and it rejects the false peaces that seek to tame death. It invites us to die to the desire for control and to let go of oneself at every obstacle; that consent is love. The «little deaths», read with Simone Weil, trace a path of dispossession and fullness.
Published in French in 2017, with 252 pages. Martin Steffens is a philosophy professor, lecturer and columnist for La Croix and La Vie.
For readers of contemporary philosophy and spiritual essay seeking a lucid reflection on death, renunciation and fullness.
