«L'éthique protestante et l'esprit du capitalisme» is the sociology essay by Max Weber, published by Pocket in paperback (288 pages, in French).
Max Weber examines the shift in mentality that changed the relationship with money and work. Against the medieval tradition that distrusted wealth, Protestantism saw in professional effort and economic success a possible sign of divine grace. The essay sees in this religious ethic the driving force of modern capitalism.
The French edition of the Agora collection also includes the text «Les sectes protestantes et l'esprit du capitalisme».
For those interested in sociology, economic history, and the link between religion and capitalism.

Max Weber was a Jewish-American painter and one of the first American Cubist painters who, in later life, turned to more figurative Jewish themes in his art. He is best known today for Chinese Restaurant (1915), in the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art, "the finest canvas of his Cubist phase," in the words of art historian Avis Berman.
