In 'Book of the Life', Teresa de Jesús narrates, at the request of her confessors, her life and spiritual experiences. This book has become a reference work in the literature of reflection on the inner life. More than an autobiography, it is an attempt to understand and explain the changes Teresa experienced after a series of experiences she describes as 'conversion'. Joseph Pérez describes the book as 'a relation of the spiritual graces of which the saint was favored', a very personal mystical treatise that explores the tension between the extraordinary of the subject and the difficulty to express it.
