«Los espejos paralelos» is the historical novel by Néstor Luján, published by Planeta-De Agostini in hardcover (223 pages, in Spanish).
A painter spends a night locked in with Velázquez's Las Meninas and sees the portrayed characters come to life: the Infanta María Teresa, Philip IV, Queen Mariana, ladies, dwarfs, and the mastiff León. Their stories depict life at court and in seventeenth-century Spain; Velázquez himself takes the floor to close the novel.
The novel is part of the Premio Planeta Collection and was a finalist for the Premio Planeta in 1991.
Ideal for readers of historical fiction interested in the Spanish Golden Age and the court of the Habsburgs.
