«Los metales nocturnos» is the contemporary novel by Francisco Umbral, published by Editorial Planeta in hardcover (200 pages, in Spanish).
One August night, a writer roams decadent, marginal Madrid in search of himself or, perhaps, just of the night itself. Around him, a web of prostitution, drugs, violence and extreme settings unfolds, taking him from literary supplements to crime pages, until he confronts his own identity.
First edition published on October 3, 2003 in Barcelona, in the Autores Españoles e Iberoamericanos collection.
For readers of contemporary Spanish fiction interested in nocturnal, marginal Madrid.
Francisco Alejandro Pérez Martínez, better known as Francisco Umbral, was a Spanish journalist, novelist, biographer and essayist.
