«Luna de Senegal» is the children's novel by Agustín Fernández Paz, published by Anaya Infantil y Juvenil in paperback (200 pages, in Spanish).
Khoedi, an eleven-year-old Senegalese girl, leaves her home to settle in Vigo with her father, who has been an emigrant for years. Everything feels strange to her: she knows no one and her mind is still in Africa. As she tries to adapt to her new life, the moon shining every night becomes the only link between her present and the roots she left behind.
It belongs to the Sopa de Libros collection, number 137, and includes illustrations by Marina Seoane. The work was included in the CLIJ 2009 Honor List and the CCEI 2010 Honor List.
Recommended for children's and young adult readers aged 11 and up, especially for those seeking stories about immigration, interculturality and adaptation.
