«Macbeth» is the children's adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy retold by Marcia Williams (Walker Books, paperback, 47 pages, in English).
Illustrated recreation of Shakespeare's classic. Macbeth is a warrior who has everything, but when three witches tell him he will be king, his ambition drives him to make increasingly dark decisions. The story keeps the original dialogue of the play in a version accessible to young readers.
It is the sixth title in the Tales from Shakespeare collection, in which Marcia Williams adapts Shakespeare's plays for children.
Aimed at young readers approaching Shakespeare for the first time, with visual support and simple storytelling.
Marcia Matilda Williams, Baroness Falkender, CBE, also known as Marcia Falkender, was the private secretary for, and then the political secretary and head of political office to, UK Labour Prime Minister Harold Wilson.
