«Maic» is the young adult novel by Tina Vallès López, published by Baula in paperback (88 pages, in Catalan).
Maic lives among absences: a mother who is always leaving, a distant grandmother, a motionless brother, and a non-father he has never met. When they make whirlpools in his navel, he goes out to the landing and the neighbors —Mrs. Coixins, Mr. Soldat and the Històries couple— save his afternoons. His mother is looking for a perfect father and Maic hopes he will appear soon.
It is number 78 in the «La Llum del Far» collection; first edition published on February 15, 2011.
Recommended for child and young adult readers; a story about family and loneliness from a child's perspective.
Tina Vallès is a Catalan writer, proofreader and translator.
