«Manejo básico de piolet y crampones» is the mountaineering guide by Antonio Guerra Gabás, published by Ediciones Desnivel in paperback (72 pages, in Spanish).
This manual lays the foundations for the athlete to develop a more conscious and safer alpine practice. It explains the use of the ice axe, from grip and self-belay to progression and snow-climbing techniques, self-arrest, step cutting, and ice-axe anchors or belays. It also covers the use of crampons: progression without them, cramponing techniques such as the French or flat-foot and front-point methods, and glissading descent.
First edition published on November 1, 2005; part of the Manuales collection from Ediciones Desnivel.
Aimed at mountaineers and athletes who want to start or consolidate basic techniques for safe progression on winter and snowy terrain.
